Poori & Aloo Bhaji Recipe | Traditional Indian Breakfast | Homemade Poori

Some meals simply feel like love — and Poori with Aloo Bhaji is one of them. Soft puffed pooris served with mildly spiced potato curry make the perfect breakfast, brunch or festive meal for the whole family.

Ingredients for Poori

  • 2 cups wheat flour

  • 1 tbsp oil

  • ½ tsp salt

  • Water to knead

  • Oil for frying

Ingredients for Bhaji

  • 3–4 boiled potatoes

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1 onion, sliced

  • 1–2 green chillies

  • Curry leaves

  • ¼ tsp turmeric

  • Salt to taste

  • Lemon & coriander

Poori Method

  1. Mix flour, oil and salt.

  2. Add water and knead into a firm dough.

  3. Rest for 10 minutes.

  4. Roll small discs and deep-fry until puffed and golden.

Bhaji Method

  1. Heat oil and add mustard seeds, chillies & curry leaves.

  2. Add onions and sauté.

  3. Add turmeric and salt.

  4. Add mashed potatoes and mix well.

  5. Garnish with coriander and lemon.

Kitchen Tips

✔ Dough should be firm, not soft
✔ Oil must be hot for puffed pooris
✔ Serve immediately — that’s when it tastes best
